Here beginners and professionals alike find climbing routes from easy to challenging, and tricky rock walls surrounded by breath-taking views in the Silvretta, Rätikon and Verwall ranges. Those who are curious about the sport, and everyone who wants to perfect his or her climbing and safety techniques, can catch some fresh mountain air in the climbing garden.

Zimba - The Matterhorn of the Montafon

The climbing mountain for the truly daring

The 2,643 metre-high mountain has fascinated Alpinists across the entire country for generations. Zimba is also often described as the Montafon’s Matterhorn because of its unusual shape. There is no hiking trail or via ferrata up to the summit, and it takes courage, a head for heights and fitness to conquer the demanding rock tour with degree of difficulty III.

The route leads from the Heinrich Hueter Hütte at 1,766 metres. From there, it continues to the Zimbajoch and then leads along the western ridge to the summit cross. But all the effort is amply rewarded: A fantastic view of the surrounding Alps awaits everyone who pushes themselves to their limits. You can also test your limits with the assistance of an experienced Montafon mountain guide.

“A via ferrata is more than a couple of hooks spread across a rock face.”

A via ferrata paradise for pros and beginners

Whether challenging or easy, in a valley or high-Alpine - you will find the right via ferrata for your abilities and your taste in the mountains of Vorarlberg.

Secured with belts, ropes and karabiners, 17 via ferrata in the Montafon lead through ravines, along waterfalls and even through a cave.

Via ferrata are the perfect opportunity for ambitious hikers to also advance in a vertical direction.
Always under the instruction of a mountain guide. This ensures that nothing can go wrong and guarantees
fun. But be careful: it’s addictive!
